In the case that you arrive in your own vehicle, Plaza de Ponchos has surrounding it guarded parking lots, for light vehicles like buses.

The Plaza de los Ponchos, also known as the Centenario Market, is the scene of the major artisan market in northern Ecuador that is held every Saturday from 7 in the morning until 6 in the evening. This fair is also held all the other days in a minor scale, but the other reccommended day to visit is Wednesday. The average temperature is 14°C and it is situated at an altitude of 2566 m.a.s.l.
The Plaza de Ponchos is a commercial destination with various artisan products, they are local, regional, national and international products. The representative artisan products are textiles of Otavalo, also there is artisan production in clay, paint, wood, jewelry, metalwork, leathergoods, marzipan, ceramic, etc.
The sales stalls are comfortable for selling to tourists and the products are clearly exhibited in the “callambas” that are cement circles located in the interior of the plaza.
There is an ethnic group that stands out and is a major representative of the Otavaleños, there exist also other groups that come to this place like Kichwa Cayambis, Kichwa Caranquis, Afro Ecuatorianos, Mestizos, among others.
Among the products for sale there are; ponchos, scarves, gloves, hats, caps, shirts, pants, tablecloths, hammocks, tapestry, bags, canvas shoes, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, woodwork, pots, frames, belts, skirts, rugs, and an endless number of more products.
