The Ecuador train invites you to take an unforgetable trip that goes through the province of Imbabura on rails. This 85 year old route has been restored to its original state. It is an excellent opportunity to see and live the historic Ecuadorian testament, a retrospective trip for some and a testimonial for new generations.

An electric-diesel locomotive with 4 first class coaches and 1 standard coach with capacity for a total of 152 passengers that will take you through 57 kms. of landscapes, culture and history.

07:30 Check in and embark at the Otavalo station.
08:00 Train leaves for San Roque.
08:25 Visit the San Roque station, hear history of the community and its involvement with the train. Traditional snack of flour tortillas and aromatic tea or coffee.
08:45 Train leaves for Andrade Marín.
08:55 Arrive at the Andrade Marín station, a guided visit to the recently restored textile museum “Fábrica Imbabura”, a testimony to the industrial revolution in Ecuador. You will have 10 minutes to use the facilities and visit the Train Cafe (purchases are the guests responsibility).
09:45 Train leaves for Ibarra.
10:25 Arrive at the Ibarra station, additional passengers embark, time is available to use the facilities.
10:40 Train leaves for Salinas.
11:40 Arrive at the Hoja Blanca station. Visit the interpretive center of Yachay, visit the Train Cafe (purchases are the guests responsibility).
12:00 Train leaves for the Salinas parish of Ibarra.
12:30 Arrive at Salinas, disembark and enjoy a community reception.
12:40 Cultural afro-ecuadorian dance presentation, traditional bomba dance, visit the Train Cafe (purchases are the guests responsibility).
01:00 Visit the artisan plaza, purchase souvenirs.
01:10 A short guided walk in the town of Salinas to a restaurant.
01:25 Lunch in Salinas.
02:25 Visit the Sal Museum or the Ethnography Hall of Salinas.

11:35 Leave on the North Panamericana route.
12:10 Lunch in a restaurant next to the Yahuarcocha lake.
